Absolute Green Lantern #17 - "Sin Es Tro"
Sep. 19th, 2026 12:05 am
Almost like a fable, that Alan Scott origin. It's sort of a flame that burns three times, to bring life, to bring death, to bring power. It feels religious, it feels inexplicable. And the Golden Age kind of did that a lot, from what I've read, from what I understand, these are things that sort of had to be out the door yesterday. You hear stories like whole issues being done over the weekend at an apartment with people peeling the tiles off the walls to mix the paints. And everybody at the time, like, comics had only just been kind of invented. Every time somebody did a thing for the first time, it was the first time. The first splash page was the first of those, the first kind of circular panel, the first weird storytelling trick. People were just coming up with stuff on the fly. So that's the kind of energy I think it's good to bring back in if you possibly can. -- Al Ewing

What If...? Runaways #1
Sep. 18th, 2026 10:00 am
"I still felt like I was writing the same characters… I just tried to imagine how they would act if they hadn't come together. They all benefit so much from their friendship. Chase becomes less brash. Gert becomes less brittle. Karolina grows braver.
"I also thought about how they might grow if they stayed close to their parents. Those are such interesting relationships; the members of the Pride are terrible people -- but they're mostly loving parents." -- Rainbow Rowell

Hellraiser: Resurrections - The Onanistic Ritual
Sep. 15th, 2026 06:13 pm
This second of five September-releasing Hellraiser one-shots isn't as good as the first. It's not bad, but in some places trhe art did require me to look a few times to realise exactly what was going on in-panel, and the story doesn't break any new ground.
Besides making everyone go to look up what 'onanistic' means, it does build on something mentioned in the first issue, which does make me wonder.
Trigger warning for incel bullshit.

Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren #1
Sep. 12th, 2026 01:30 pm
"The first installment, THE RISE OF KYLO REN, followed young Ben Solo on the path that led him to the dark side of the Force, and the emergence of his new identity as Kylo Ren. The second, REIGN OF KYLO REN, dealt with Kylo as he tried desperately to deal with the surge of incredibly intense life-changing events we see wash over him in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. This is what you could call the 'height' of Kylo Ren, as he reckoned with his past actions and sought his future. Now, with FALL, I'll be looking at the events that bring Kylo Ren to where he is when we see him at the opening scene of The Rise of Skywalker. REIGN gave him clarity, even a sort of happiness. FALL is the final piece of the puzzle. I hope those of you following this story will enjoy." -- Charles Soule
